Community Involvement

Andrews • Lagasse • Branch & Bell LLP believes it’s important to give back to our community. Our attorneys contribute their time and our firm sponsors the following charitable organizations that are near and dear to our hearts:

Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego (BBBS)

An organization designed to help vulnerable children succeed through one on one mentoring relationships. Our firm has been committed to BBBS for many years. We provide pro bono legal services to BBBS, our employees have served as big brothers and big sisters; and one of our attorneys currently serve as a Board Member and secretary for the Executive Committee. Our firm sponsors a table at the organization's annual fundraising dinner and silent auction, and we host a separate fundraising event each year designed to support one of the organization's current initiatives. On July 21, 2016, our firm hosted "The Big Summer Sizzle," our third annual fundraiser for BBBS, at which we raised nearly $17,000 for the Big Futures Program, an initiative designed to expose participants to college and career choices, prepare them for post-secondary success, and support them through their post-secondary experience.

California Innocence Project

A non-profit organization dedicated to freeing the wrongfully convicted and changing laws and policies in the State of California to improve California’s justice system. Our firm provides pro bono legal services for the Innocence Project, including reviewing the applications and legal files of individuals seeking to prove innocence of crimes for which they have been wrongfully convicted and making recommendations relating to representation by the Project.

Center for Community Solutions (CCS)

An agency dedicated to helping adults and children heal and prevent rape, domestic violence, and elder abuse through a rape crisis center, emergency domestic violence shelters, hospital and court accompaniment, as well as legal and counseling services. Each year our firm sponsors several families in CCS's Bridging Hearts Program during the holiday season.

Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program

Our attorneys regularly volunteer as legal experts in this program designed to help entrepreneurs create jobs and economic opportunity in the local Southern California community by providing them with resources they need to grow and create jobs. Our attorneys speak on employment-related topics at the Los Angeles and Long Beach legal clinics, and meet with small business owners to provide volunteer legal counseling services on employment and contractual issues.

HOME Foundation

The HOME Foundation is a non-profit organization engaged in a mission to enhance the quality of life for seniors in our communities through caring service, fulfilling essential needs, and providing education to caregivers. Our firm supports its mission through various activities, including sponsorship of and participation in its annual fund raising golf tournament.

Junior League of Los Angeles (JLLA)

An educational and charitable organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers serving on various committees. One of our attorneys has served on various JLLA committees, including Strategic Planning, Public Policy Institute, and Board Fellows, and she also volunteers with various community-based organizations through JLLA.

Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic Chorus, Legal Voices

A chorus comprised of lawyers, judges, law students and legal staff that performs concerts and raises money to benefit those who cannot afford legal services and for other charitable causes. One of our firm’s attorneys is a member and soloist for the Chorus.

Mental Health Systems (MHS)

An agency founded to improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities facing substance abuse and behavioral health challenges through rehabilitation services. Our firm provides various donations to support the important services provided by MHS.

Piece by Piece

An affiliate of the Skid Row Housing Trust, which provides low-income and formerly homeless people free mosaic art workshops using recycled materials to develop marketable skills, self-confidence, earned income and an improved quality of life. One of our attorneys serves as inaugural member of the Junior Board.

PurpleStride

A nonprofit organization aimed at raising awareness about the critical mission of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and hosting events that contribute to funding research and supporting patients with Pancreatic Cancer. One of our attorneys regularly participates in PurpleStride’s 5k run, and helps raise funds and awareness in the local Southern California community.

San Diego Bowl Game Association

A non-profit association that produces the annual Holiday Bowl and Poinsettia Bowl college football games to generate tourism, exposure, economic benefit and civic pride for San Diego and its citizens. One of our attorneys serves on the Executive Committee and our firm regularly sponsors events held by the Association.

Stand Up For Kids

An organization whose mission aims to help homeless and street kids through outreach and support programs. Our firm hosts dinner the third Friday of each month for homeless teens at the organization's outreach center in downtown San Diego, we also provide financial support for outreach programs, and donate clothing and other items for the teens.

SurfAid International

A non-profit humanitarian organization that partners with communities and governments, and works to prevent disease, suffering and death through educational programs and health promotion designed to change poor health behaviors and reduce the risk from natural disasters. One of our attorneys helps raise funds and awareness every year for SurfAid in the local Southern California community.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure

A non-profit organization working to end breast cancer through ground-breaking research, community health outreach encouraging early detection and effective treatment, and programs designed to raise awareness. One of our attorneys has participated in the 3-Day Walk for more than eight years, walking 60 miles over three days to raise funds and awareness that help support local public health outreach programs in San Diego county.

California Minority Counsel Program (CMCP)

Andrews • Lagasse • Branch & Bell LLP is an active member of the CMCP, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting diversity in the legal profession by providing attorneys of color with access and opportunity for business and professional development. CMCP works with the State Bar of California, the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, the Association of Corporate Counsel – America, as well as many local bar associations and professional associations to help achieve diversity and inclusion within law firms and in-house law departments, and in the outside counsel spend of corporations and government agencies.

Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM)

Andrews • Lagasse • Branch & Bell LLP is a member of the CLM, a nonpartisan alliance comprised of thousands of insurance companies, corporations, corporate counsel, litigation and risk managers, claims professionals, and attorneys whose goals are to create a common interest in the representation by firms of companies, and to promote and further the highest standards of litigation management in pursuit of client defense. Our attorneys regularly attend and speak at conferences.

National Association of Minority & Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF)

Andrews • Lagasse • Branch & Bell LLP is a proud member of NAMWOLF, a legal organization comprised of AV-rated firms across the nation that represent major corporate clients, including private/public entities. The organization strives to promote diversity in the legal profession. Our attorneys actively participate in the organization’s Labor and Employment, and Restaurant, Retail & Hospitality Practice Area Committees; they serve on subcommittees and regularly speak at NAMWOLF conferences and webinars.

San Diego County Bar Association's (SDCBA) 100 Percent Club

Andrews • Lagasse • Branch & Bell LLP and all its attorneys participate in the SDCBA 100 Percent Club. Through this commitment, the firm supports the work done through the SDCBA's diversity initiatives, community service campaigns, and continuing education programs.

Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)

Andrews • Lagasse • Branch & Bell LLP attorneys actively participate in SHRM, a non-profit association of human resource professionals focused on providing comprehensive training, information and resources, and advancing the practice of human resource management. Our attorneys participate in both the San Diego and the Inland Northwest (Washington and Idaho) chapters of SHRM. They serve on various SHRM committees, actively participate in chapter initiatives, speak at conferences and webinars, and have served on the Board of Directors, including as President, President-Elect, and Vice President of Legislation.
